Early Times
Born William E. Morgan in 17th Century Wales, Willie served in The Royal Navy until his early 20's when, bored with the structured life of military service, he abandoned ship while on assignment somewhere in the Caribbean British West Indies.
Seeking a life of freedom and excitement, Willie traveled to various islands in hopes of finding his cousin, who was rumored to lead a piratical group of sailors in the Caribbean region. It was by chance, having been caught while trying to break into the local armory of the British garrison in Port Royal, Jamaica, that Willie was to finally meet his cousin...in jail.
As cellmates, the cousins realized they shared several things in common besides family blood--a love of adventure and rum--not to mention a distinctly bizarre and eccentric way of acting, walking, and talking. They also shared a talent of manipulating others for personal gain, which assisted in their quick escape from behind bars.Willie's cousin, the infamous Captain Jack, was to teach Willie everything about piracy, including certain codes of decency and respect, that would be adhered to throughout Willie's career as a pirate.
